Karan Johar‘s popular and trendy chat show ‘Koffee with Karan 6’ is in the news and for all the wrong reasons. The episode featuring Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul has created a huge controversy. Both these cricketers made crass and sexist remarks on the show and faced a huge backlash.

Now, Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended Pandya and Rahul pending an inquiry. Both these cricketers are currently in Australia for the one day series. The first match of the series is starting tomorrow at Sydney.

As a result of this, Pandya and Rahul will not be taking part in the ODI series. The governing body had earlier issued show cause notices to both these cricketers. Hardik on his part had apologised by issuing a clarification on Twitter.

KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya had appeared on Karan Johar’s show this past episode, which aired on January 6. Hardik during the show got carried away and made some sexists and misogynistic comments. KJo was also criticised for asking sexist questions.

As per the Hindustan Times report, “In terms of Rule 41(6) of the BCCI Constitution, you are hereby suspended with immediate effect from participating in any manner whatsoever in any match or function or event or activity that is authorized, organized, sanctioned, recognized or supported in any way by the BCCI, the ICC or any State Association, until final adjudication of the matter.”

Hopefully, this punishment sets a deterrent to not only to these two cricketers but also to Bollywood celebrities on how to treat and respect women.
