Diana Penty reveals why she took a break

Diana Penty won hearts and accolades as the demure Meera in the 2012 rom-com ‘Cocktail’, and was praised for her debut performance. However, except for some commercials and blink and miss appearances on the ramp, the actress just vanished. And she made a comeback this year as the chirpy and vivacious Happy in ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’. What took her four years to resume? The actress clears the air.

Diana said that though ‘Cocktail’ was a big success, she realised that she was not yet ready to handle fame and all that came with it, hence the break. In the actress’ own words, “It took me a while after Cocktail… I was not expecting and was not prepared for it. So it took me a while. But now I think I have reached a stage where I am comfortable in this space. I know how to handle it.”

She further stated, “There is always going to be one part of where you will get affected and that is only normal and natural… Being a human, you are going to be sensitive to certain things. But you need to learn how to draw the line and say ‘Yes, it will bother me, but I have to snap out of it.”

That’s sensible. We loved Diana in ‘Cocktail’, and loved her even more in ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’. We hope she doesn’t take such a long break again before lighting up our screens again.
