Finally! Ayan Mukerji’s fake social media account operator arrested

The accused, who created a fake Facebook profile of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and blackmailed struggling actresses, has now been held by the police.

Mohammed Soheb Iqbal Jetawa (27) was arrested last night by the sleuths of unit 11 of the Crime Branch from Mumbai Central. He used to stay in Dongari and had created the profile to get in touch with struggling actresses. He asked for their pictures and money. One of these actresses had filed a police complaint. “Using the profile, Jetawa interacted with a struggling actress from suburban Malad and pretended to be Mukerji,” he said.

He also used to talk to the actress on other social media platforms like Messenger, WhatsApp and on cell phone. He then allegedly asked the actress money “to buy an i-Phone” after which she stopped communicating with him any further.

The accused also started threatening the actress to defame her by posting her pictures and personal chats on the social media.

Police also found that a similar complaint was lodged at the Oshiwara Police Station, while investigating.
