Ranbir Kapoor on Kishore Kumar's biopic

After months of speculations around the much talked-about biopic on legendary singer Kishore Kumar, director Anurag Basu has confirmed that the movie will be made. But the casting of Ranbir Kapoor is something uncertain that he recently talked about saying that at the moment the actor is not a part of the movie. This is because Anurag is keen to start the project next year in 2017, but Ranbir is unavailable to shoot.

Talking about it to an agency, Anurag Basu said, “The biopic is definitely happening. Ranbir Kapoor is not doing it right now. If I start it in 2017 then Ranbir will not be able to do it… then I will go with some other actor. And Ranbir is okay with it. He has also told me that if it is further delayed (to 2018) then he will be able do it.”

“Scripting is done. In all likelihood, I will start work on the biopic from 2017. But before that I have another film to start – ‘Life In A Metro’ sequel,” added the ‘Gangster’ director.

Further, Anurag Basu also said that the family of this late legendary singer is much anxious about the status of this film.

“The director is ready, producer is ready, family of Kishore Kumar is ready. They are waiting for it to start, they are getting restless. They were too excited to start the film soon,” added Anurag.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, there were also rumours of Aamir Khan stepping in to play the role of late Kishore Kumar, but nothing was confirmed.

Till then, Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu are ready with their upcoming film ‘Jagga Jasoos’ which is slated to release next year in 2017.
