Shivaay clash Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

The clash of the titans is going to take place this Friday. Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is all set to clash with Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’ at the box office. The advance bookings of both the films have started and ‘ADHM’ is ahead of ‘Shivaay’.

Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributors) confirmed that Karan’s film is ahead of Ajay’s movie in the advance booking race. He told an entertainment web portal, “The good thing about this Diwali is that both the films (‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Shivaay’) are very clearly demarcated in terms of the audience they cater to. ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is a very multiplex, urban-youth film, while ‘Shivaay’ is a mass entertainer, which is very single screen friendly. Traditionally, if you see, the big advance booking figures come from the multiplexes and the urban-centres. So, the advance booking figures will indicate that ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ has an edge over ‘Shivaay’.”

So, does that mean ‘ADHM’ will get a better opening than ‘Shivaay’? Well no! Rathi stated, “Mass films like ‘Shivaay’ always depend on current bookings. And hence, the advance booking figures do not really indicate the true picture of what the day one figures will be like for either of the films. Just because of the simple reason that you do not expect the single screen, small-town audience to go to a BookMyShow or Paytm to book tickets. They come on the day, they pick up the tickets and walk in. So going by the buzz that both the films have, I am sure both the films will have an equal opening and will do very well amongst the audience they are catering too.”

“Both the films should get about 3000 screens pan-India. Having said that I think 70 per cent of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s business will be from multiplexes and 70 per cent of Shivaay’s business will probably happen out of single screens. Again because of the audience they cater to. So I think it is going to be a Happy Diwali for everyone as there is some film for everybody to watch,” he added.
