Padmavati budget

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ is surely one of the much anticipated films of 2017. Though the movie was announced few weeks ago, but the official announcement of the star cast is yet to be made. It is said that the movie will star Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. Well, the shooting of the film was apparently going to start in this month, but that has not yet happened. Yesterday, it was reported that as ‘Padmavati’ will be a big budget film, and that two production houses will be backing it, Viacom 18 and Eros International. Now we hear that the total budget of the film will be around Rs. 190 crore!

A source stated, “Sanjay’s Padmavati will have a budget almost unheard of in Bollywood. It’s a terribly risky affair because although ‘Bajirao Mastani’ worked at the box office, ‘Padmavati’s budget is way higher than BM.”

“The sets are huge and the production cost for the film will be in the range of Rs 130-140 crore itself. Add another Rs 20 crore for print and publicity campaigns. Along with this, the leading cast will charge around Rs 30 crore in total. Out of that Rs 30 crore, Deepika will get Rs 12 crore, Ranveer and Shahid are charging around Rs 8 crore each. That makes the budget of Padmavati a staggering Rs 180-190 crore which is mammoth,” added the source.

Well, the budget is really high and nowadays films are surprisingly not working at the box office. We really wonder if it’s a good move to invest such a huge amount.
