Yes, we all eat, sleep and breathe Bollywood (forgive us for the generalisation) where everything is over the top. Right from the movie sets, expressions to the outfits, we get nervous with subtlety in any form and savour the sight of actresses stepping out in larger-than-life ensembles. And just when we thought we could face it all, we saw American singer Beyonce’s electrifying gold gown and got a little woozy. (Also read: LOL! For the second Wearable Art Gala hosted by her mother Tina Knowles, Queen Bey wore a custom gold gown created by none other than Indian couture duo Falguni and Shane Peacock. Well, for starters, we love her metallic gown; we aren’t complaining. But it took us a while to get used to the sight of the dramatic outfit that made our eyes pop.

The sheer dress had metallic cutouts that were strategically placed to mimic the shape of an armour. It ended in an elaborate 3-D effect train with yards of gold fabric that pooled around her feet. The iconic singer looked like a fairytale version of a princess appearing from gold sand dunes. Check out how huge is the circumference of her gown.

Beyonce’s personal stylist Marni Senafonte worked with Falguni and Shane Peacock to create this breathtaking look inspired by the Nubian warrior queen. The diva rounded off the look with equally dramatic gold angular danglers and gold lips that were hard to unnotice. Thank goodness, she opted for middle-parted sleek hair and accentuated her tresses with a golden thread tiara.

Though exquisite and beautiful, the gown made us feel guilty about judging our Bollywood beauties with their blinding goldie gold outfits. It also made us forgive many for their fashion faux pas and also reminded us of many other mesmerising looks.

Whether it’s Deepika Padukone in that sweltering gold gown or Rekha in her signature sparkly South Indian avatars, we are now ready for more bling, fellas!
