IIFA Awards 2017 green carpet

The 18th edition of IIFA Awards 2017 kickstarted and surely was a starry splash. Many celebrities walked the green carpet so far and oh-boy did they look fine? Well, we all remember what a disappointment the green carpet of IIFA Rocks was; where a lot of the B-town celebs opted for dull looks. And so, after being a huge letdown in the fashion department, we didn’t really have much hopes for the final leg of the event. But, the B-townies have given us some stylish surprises. The celebrities descended the green carpet and we must say, they seemed quite better with regards to their style. From all the looks we came across, we can’t say we’re blown away but we’re definitely satisfied with how they decked up for the event. Of course, there are a few celebs who have offended us with regards to fashion, but overall it seems fine.

So, let’s dig in and tell you what exactly your fav celeb donned at the IIFA’s awards night. (Pictures courtesy- Yogen Shah)

Malaika Arora exudes an old-world charm in this dreamy saree

We don’t remember the last time we saw Malaika Arora in an out-and-out traditional saree. Of course we do keep seeing a lot of her low-waist, modern saree looks with plunging necklines and sexy backs. But trust us, the actress’ recent fashion outing is something else altogether. Malaika Arora donned this beautiful floral saree designed by Ritu Kumar for an event in Hyderabad recently. The unmissable dreamy element of this multicoloured number makes the lady look like a divine goddess and exudes that enthralling old-world charm. The gaach floral saree with resham thread embroidery was clubbed with a matching embellished blouse that accentuated the lady’s olive skin. Doesn’t she look like a royal maharani? Hell, yeah!

Stylist Maneka Harisinghani kept everything extremely subtle right from her accessories to the beauty game. Malaika opted for delicate diamond earrings and statement rings from Renu Oberoi that perfectly complemented the floral print. Makeup artist Divya Chablani added finishes touches with vintage-inspired rusty lips and eyeshadow. What we love about Malaika’s OOTD is the traditional Indian low bun with middle parted hair that was adorned with a bunch of red roses. Aha, classic!

To be honest, we just can’t take our eyes off this version of Malaika who’s refreshingly different from the bold, mini dress-clad one. The designer herself took to Instagram to share details about the outfit and captioned the picture as, “@malaikaarorakhanofficial looks like a dream in the #RituKumar Gaach embroidered saree with resham thread embroidery.” And we couldn’t agree more!

The 'Padmaavat' drama continues: A man threatens to set himself on fire

Film ‘Padmaavat’ has been in news for all the wrong reasons since it’s inception. The film starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead faced protest during the shooting in Rajasthan because of which the shooting of the film had to be stalled for a few days. But, the film is now all set to hit theaters but the Road seems to be a bumpy one. (Also Read: Padmaavat: Is Karni Sena now challenging Supreme Court’s decision over the film’s release?)

The film after a few modifications and change in the title is now all set to release on January 25.

Now since the film is releasing on January 25, with each passing day we hear news of how groups or individuals are staging the protest against the film as they don’t want the film to release. Today was no different as a youth in Bhilwara, Rajasthan climbed a 350 feet tall mobile tower with a bottle of petrol in his hand and threatened to burn himself. The protester said he will come down only when ‘Padmaavat’ is banned in the country. Here, have a look at the pictures of the protest :

India is a democratic country and every individual has a right to put forward his or her point. But staging such protest clearly is undemocratic as the Supreme Court of India has cleared the film and lifted ban from the states who had imposed it earlier. But looks like the protest against the films seems to have no end.

We wish the film has a peaceful release in the theaters just like any other film.
