Style gone wrong! Sonakshi Sinha’s ethnic game on IIFA 2017 green carpet goes horribly awry

Sonakshi Sinha IIFA 2017

Known as one of the finest talents in Bollywood, Sonakshi Sinha is also counted as an actress who has an impeccable taste when it comes to fashion. For the uninitiated, Sonakshi Sinha began her career as a costume designer, and so naturally a smell for good style and trends is certainly up to her alley. Till date, most of the times she has never failed to astound us. (Also Read:HOT! Sonakshi Sinha flaunts her curvaceous body in her latest photoshoot)

Missing in action from the IIFA 2017 press conference and IIFA Rocks 2017 events, Sonakshi Sinha’s green carpet entry was much awaited. And when the diva entered on the green carpet looking like a newly made Sonakshi, we were in for a total shock. Scroll down below to read what we are talking about.

What is she wearing?
Donning separates which consisted of a white fitted strapless blouse with a white skirt, Sonakshi opted for a dupatta which she draped as a pallu. With her blonde hair styled sleek in a centre parting, a statement choker necklace, metallic flats, bright lips, defined eyes and a bindi, Sonakshi looked too much decked up.

What all went wrong?
Taking a style risk and looking like some international star wrapped up in a saree, Sonakshi was not at all impressive on the green carpet. Also, what was quite noticeable was her BLONDE (yikes) hair which gave us a feeling that why there was a need for her to do that? While her makeup and accessories were on point, the separates and the ill-fitting colourful drape were a tad disappointing. What was the need to ruin your well-maintained style image, Sonakshi?

A much-better look for the Awards Night!

Moving onto her next look for IIFA 2017 main event, Sonakshi just poured in some elegance. Yes, after her colourful saree and blonde hair debacle; seems like Sonakshi did justice to fashion this time. Taking a leaf out of Queen B’s amazing book of style, Sonakshi Sinha looked nothing less than stunning on the green carpet. Also, it’s not a easy task to pull off a Beyoncé look (ask all the drag queen’s who are trying to do it from ages) and Sonakshi actually made a strong effort to look like her; A+ to her stylist for the overall presentation.

Malaika Arora exudes an old-world charm in this dreamy saree

We don’t remember the last time we saw Malaika Arora in an out-and-out traditional saree. Of course we do keep seeing a lot of her low-waist, modern saree looks with plunging necklines and sexy backs. But trust us, the actress’ recent fashion outing is something else altogether. Malaika Arora donned this beautiful floral saree designed by Ritu Kumar for an event in Hyderabad recently. The unmissable dreamy element of this multicoloured number makes the lady look like a divine goddess and exudes that enthralling old-world charm. The gaach floral saree with resham thread embroidery was clubbed with a matching embellished blouse that accentuated the lady’s olive skin. Doesn’t she look like a royal maharani? Hell, yeah!

Stylist Maneka Harisinghani kept everything extremely subtle right from her accessories to the beauty game. Malaika opted for delicate diamond earrings and statement rings from Renu Oberoi that perfectly complemented the floral print. Makeup artist Divya Chablani added finishes touches with vintage-inspired rusty lips and eyeshadow. What we love about Malaika’s OOTD is the traditional Indian low bun with middle parted hair that was adorned with a bunch of red roses. Aha, classic!

To be honest, we just can’t take our eyes off this version of Malaika who’s refreshingly different from the bold, mini dress-clad one. The designer herself took to Instagram to share details about the outfit and captioned the picture as, “@malaikaarorakhanofficial looks like a dream in the #RituKumar Gaach embroidered saree with resham thread embroidery.” And we couldn’t agree more!

Sonam wears the most unusual kurta of the season!

Sonam Kapoor is always making a conscious effort… to wear outfits no one else can possibly think of!  And more often than not, the actress does a pretty fab job of treading the unknown path of fashion. (Also read: Sonam Kapoor’s latest funda to be the fashionista: Same clothes, different colour!)

For the promotions of her upcoming film Padman, Sonam slipped into a button-up silk kurta and matching striped straight pants from Rimzim Dadu. There’s something about this easy-breezy, shiny set that instantly transports you to a comfy haven. But what made the look extremely unusual is the metallic cord tie-up detailing that creates an illusion of having worn a bandeau top over the kurta.

The designer number has hair thin zari yarns that have been assembled and formed into cords that are attached on the front and tied up at the back. But if you ask us, the cords seem to be too long and hanging abruptly at the back.

Needless to say, Sonam pulled it off like a total diva as her darling sister Rhea Kapoor did the styling exceptionally well. The actress clubbed the look with delicate silver danglers and a chic silver clutch. The understated nude pumps from Jimmy Choo added to the allure of the outfit. Though we wish there was some colour element in the ensemble, it seems like that’s how exactly it was supposed to be… colourless!

Makeup artist Mitali Vakil opted for a subtle liner and nude lips. Alpa Khimani, the hairstylist, went for the classic braided look that was all about the girly girl vibes. The unfussy styling made sure that there was full-focus on her unusual kurta and we ain’t really complaining a bit! Sonam looked great!
