Trend alert: Bollywood's love affair with all things shimmery

If you thought shimmer has become a huge trend only this year, think again. Sonam Kapoor had worn this bright pink off-shoulder Caroline Hayden gown for Brand Vision Awards in 2016. Agreed! The shimmer on that bright colour was a bit overdone, but it still gave the actress a chic look. We think the blue danglers, statement ring and that innocent smile did the trick and sobered down the look.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone slipped into this golden goddess avatar at the India premiere of 'xXx Return of Xander Cage'. The blingy number was clubbed with subtle styling that included a pair of Mahesh Notandas earrings and a low ponytail. The vintage gold sequined column gown by designer Naeem Khan got mixed reviews but we appreciate Dippy’s confidence for attempting something like this. It takes guts to carry shimmer. It’s quite a tricky job!

Jacqueline Fernandez

Jacqueline Fernandez is always all about glam. Even at the IIFA Rocks event recently, she stunned everyone with her sensuous silver sequined custom-made dress by Monisha Jaising. How we love that dipped back (you go, girl!) She sported fuchsia pink hot lips, matching nails, Goenka jewellery and soft curls. The lady was oozing sexiness.

Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon opted for this blue dress by Amit Aggarwal recently for an awards show. We particularly like the entire metallic vibe of this outfit that had the designer’s signature sculpted look with a dramatic ruffle detail at the hem. The actress paired this outfit with transparent sandals (umm, they could have been better), danglers and a sleek hairdo. Your thoughts on this look?

Priyanka Chopra

This glamorous look of PeeCee was an instant hit with the fashionistas. The international star looked like a dream in this vintage sequinned, dark blue, shimmery gown from Halston Heritage clothing collection. Who else could pull off the thigh-high slit and plunging neckline better than our desi girl? She opted for a simple pony with mid-parting, had no baubles in the ears and wore basic black heels from Schutz. We think that the no-accessory route gave her the classy edge.

Alright, we get it! The shimmery, shiny trend is probably is bit overrated, most seen red carpet look and sometimes, it is a sore to the eyes. But it still leaves you feeling awestruck every time you see B-Town divas donning gowns in their sultry avatars. FYI, we’re still coping up with how gorgeous Alia Bhatt, Disha Patani and Katrina Kaif looked in their sparkling outfits for the IIFA 2017 .
