The three Khans of Bollywood- Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman khan, have captivated audience from decades. While their bond speaks volume of respect they have for each other, fans can’t wait to see them share screen space. However, their bond was not the same earlier. Aamir Khan recently mentioned how rivalry existed with Salman, Shah Rukh and how their bond has evolved now.

Aamir Khan on rivalry with Salman, Shah Rukh

In an interview with Just Too Filmy, Aamir Khan was asked if there was ever a rivalry between him, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan. In response, he said, “Of course there was… What are you even asking? Each of us wanted to outpace the other two. Isn’t that what you call rivalry? So, that was there”. Aamir mentioned that there have been fights too. “I think many of them have been well reported in media as well. It’s not like I am saying something new here. There have been disagreements. But these things happen between friends, right? Be it in any relationship, there will be disagreements too along with the friendship.”

However, Aamir emphasised that they have long moved past that phase. “It’s been 35 years since we got together. We were born in the same year, 1965, and made our debuts also more or less around the same time. Now, that rivalry is no longer there. I don’t think Shah Rukh, Salman or I even look at it that way now. Having journeyed together for 35 years, there is a sense of warmth and friendship between us, which has become more pronounced now than ever. We are much more comfortable with each other now,” he mentioned.

Aamir on skit at Ambani wedding

Reflecting on their bond, Aamir shared an anecdote from Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding in Jamnagar, Gujarat, when the three took the stage together. “There, Salman and Shah Rukh had something planned for their entry. Then Mukesh (Ambani) called me saying, ‘They are doing something, it would be nice if you also joined.’ It was a last-minute request, saying everyone would be happy if the three of us were on stage together. I immediately said yes.”

He further added, “So, we (the three Khans) sat down together for about half an hour and prepared that skit that you guys saw. But the comfort with which we were saying yes and no to each other during the preps made me realise that we were in a comfortable place now. We were able to exchange ideas in a free manner. Once the rehearsal was over, I told them: ‘Now, the three of us can do a film together.’ They also agreed. Having been together for so long, I think the audience would also love to see us together in a film.”

Howver, the Khan’s have reunited on several occasions in recent times. They came under one roof for Aamir’s daughter Ira Khan’s wedding.  They even posed together at Loveyapa screening.
