Ahaan Panday may have been celebrating the success of Saiyaara, but behind the scenes, he was enduring one of the most physically challenging phases of his life. The actor shared that his recovery process was intense, involving months spent in a cast and a prolonged period of restricted movement.
Ahaan Panday Recalls Undergoing ‘Painful’ Surgery Post Saiyaara
In a recent interview with Esquire India, Ahaan Panday shared that the recovery process was gruelling, involving months in a cast and a long period of limited mobility. He explained, “I actually got a whole surgery done after the release of Saiyaara last year. And it’s one of the most painful surgeries you can do, with the longest recovery time.”
Doctors warned him that the procedure would set his physical progress back drastically — that his body would “go back to zero,” making it extremely difficult to rebuild the strength needed for his next project with director Ali Abbas Zafar. Yet, he used that warning as motivation.
“I used to feel motivated by actors who had dramatic gym transformations. But that was usually from a certain unhealthy body type to a healthy one. This was different; I went from being injured, to not being able to move, to not being able to lift, to being able to lift,” he shared. The recovery was intense, with months spent in a cast and a long stretch of restricted movement. Surprisingly, few people noticed his struggle. “I don’t know how nobody realised!” he said.
Despite the physical toll, Ahaan kept his ordeal largely out of the public eye. He mentioned that a few observant fans sensed something was wrong and reached out to his mother, Deanne Panday, asking why he seemed to be losing weight. “Since I’m not online too much, they started asking her because she’s into fitness and all. They were like, why is he losing so much weight,” he explained.
What’s Next For Ahaan Panday?
Ahaan is now preparing for his upcoming project with filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar. The film, backed by Yash Raj Films, marks his second collaboration with the banner and his first with Zafar. The untitled action romance will feature Sharvari as the female lead, promising an exciting new pairing. He made his debut in Saiyaara, a story about Krish, a struggling musician who falls in love with Vaani Batra, an aspiring journalist and poet.
