Akshay Kumar and makers have officially confirmed the sequel to his 2019 historical film Kesari, titled Kesari Chapter 2. It is set to release on April 18. The sequel is expected to delve into the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It will feature R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles.
Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 Teaser To Release On 24th March
In a video, Dharma Productions has provided a glimpse of Kesari Chapter 2. It showcases slates that read, “A revolution painted in courage. Kesari Chapter 2.” They also announced that the film’s teaser will be unveiled on Monday, March 24.
Sharing the video on X, Akshay Kumar wrote, “Kuch ladaaiyan hathiyaaron se nahi ladi jaati (Some fights are not fought with weapons) #KesariChapter2 teaser out on 24th March.” He confirmed that the film will premiere worldwide on April 18.

The teaser reportedly suggests that Kesari Chapter 2 will focus on the untold story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, exploring barrister C. Sankaran Nair’s efforts to uncover the truth behind the tragic events of 1919. The movie is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Raghu Palat is the great-grandson of C Sankaran Nair. The story takes a deep dive into this critical chapter in Indian history. Alongside Akshay Kumar, Kesari Chapter 2 will also see R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday in significant roles.
About Kesari Chapter 2
Interestingly, the film was initially titled Shankara, but the makers have now rebranded it as Kesari Chapter 2. Despite the name, the film’s storyline is entirely different from Kesari’s. Although it carries similar themes of bravery, patriotism, and inspiration. The decision to rename the film appears to be a strategic move to build curiosity and excitement among audiences.
Kesari Completes 6 Years
As a point of reflection, Kesari marked its six-year anniversary since its release on Friday. The film revolves around the heroic story of 21 Sikh soldiers from the British Indian Army who defended Saragarhi against 10,000 Afghan tribesmen in 1897. Akshay Kumar’s portrayal of Ishar Singh received widespread acclaim, cementing the film as a tribute to Sikh bravery.
