As per recent reports, director Ali Abbas Zafar is all set to return to Yash Raj Films and collaborate with the leading production on multiple films. According to a trade source, the director has been approached to direct multiple original theatrical projects under his mentor Aditya Chopra’s banner.
Ali Abbas Zafar to return to YRF
A trade source recently spoke about the ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ director returning to Yash Raj Films. The insider said, “Ali Abbas Zafar is a filmmaker who has gone on to make huge hit films at YRF like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Sultan, Gunday and Tiger Zinda Hai. So, this is an exciting development because Ali is technically returning to his alma mater.”
The source continued, “We are sure Ali will scale greater heights as he creatively collaborates with Aditya Chopra on multiple big-budget tentpole projects for YRF. They two haven’t yet locked the projects that Ali will now direct at YRF. But we can confirm that these will be original theatrical projects. So, now there is massive anticipation to see what fresh films will be made by Ali at YRF.”
Ali Abbas Zafar’s career
Ali Abbas Zafar entered Bollywood as an assistant director for Yash Raj Films. He made his directorial-writing debut with YRF’s 2011 romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, starring Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar. He’s also directed films such as Ranveer Singh-Arjun Kapoor’s Gunday, Salman Khan-Anushka Sharma’s Sultan, and YRF’s 2017 thriller, Tiger Zinda Hai -co-starring Salman and Katrina. Zafar’s filmography also includes films like Bharat, Tandav, Jogi, Bloody Daddy and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
