anu malik reacts to amaal mallik's claims of abandonment

Amaal Mallik recently alleged that Anu Malik’s family abandoned him during the 2005 Mumbai floods. In response, Anu Malik dismissed these claims as false, calling them “a lie told 1,000 times” and advising not to waste energy reacting to such accusations. The composer, who has gained attention as one of the most talked-about contestants on Bigg Boss 19—known for opening up about depression and speaking candidly about conflicts—recalled the incident involving Malik’s family and his mother during the floods. He has now reacted strongly to his nephew’s allegations, calling them untrue.

Anu Malik REACTS To Amaal Mallik’s Abandonment Claims

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Anu Malik addressed the accusations, saying, “A lie told 1,000 times will never become the truth. One can’t waste energy reacting to everything.”

He also shared wisdom from his father, Sardar Malik, “My father always told me, never allow poison to churn in your mind. If you do, you’ll never be a good composer. People may hurt you, but they can’t take away your talent—that’s yours. I sit at my piano, create a new tune, and that’s my answer to the world.”

Anu Feels Unappreciated

The 64-year-old musician admitted feeling underappreciated for his contributions to the industry, saying, “I feel like I’ve been underused and underutilised. There’s still so much more I can give.”

Regarding the alleged abandonment, Malik explained, “We are two swords of the same empire; no one has a bigger heart than my father. When the Mumbai floods hit on July 26, 2005, I was about seven years old. Juhu is a low-lying area, so it was flooded. I was outside the gate, struggling and crying, with water up to my chest. I saw Malik’s family see me and lock their Mercedes, leaving me stranded. A friend of my father’s wife saw me and helped me into her car. I was waving, hoping for help, but instead of opening the door, she locked it. When I returned home and recounted what happened, it caused a huge scene.”(SIC)

Recently, Amaal Mallik made headlines again after a heated spat with Kunickaa Sadanand, during which they exchanged accusations about family and used abusive language. On the show, Amaal recalled being abandoned by his uncle and aunt during the 2005 Mumbai floods. He claimed they locked their car doors and left him to fend for himself in the floodwaters.
