Metro… In Dino Budget Details Out! Anurag Basu’s Musical Romance Cost Less Than Rs 50 Cr; Sources Reveal The REAL Numbers

Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino has been loved by the masses for a number of reasons since it released in theatres globally on July 4. From its music to its storyline, dialogues and performances, the films has ticked all the right boxes. In the midst of this, reports have surfaced regarding how much the makers invested in the musical romance.

Given the big names in the ensemble cast, a report surfaced that the film has been made on a budget of Rs 85 crore – a massive amount for any romantic film produced in Bollywood. However, a sources has now revealed the real amount. And it’s no where close to the nearly Rs 100 crore claims. Scroll below for the deets.

While reports continue to circulate about Metro… In Dino costing nearly Rs crore to produce and promote, a source close to the making revealed the real numbers. The insider stated, “Contrary to what many might assume, Metro…इन दिनों was made on a fairly modest scale with Rs 40 crore for production and Rs 7 crore for print and advertising.” These numbers – when added, reveal the multi starrer musical romance was made in less then Rs 50 crore.

The same source further added, “It’s a film that relied not on size, but on sincerity and substance.”

About The Film

Written and directed by Anurag Basu, Metro… In Dino is the spiritual sequel of Basu’s 2007 film Life in a… Metro. This film features an ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Saswata Chatterjee. It revolves around the bittersweet relationships of four couples in a contemporary setting. The film released on July 4 in theatres across the globe. The film wrapped week 1 with a total collection of Rs 26.75 crore.

Giving the film a 4 star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “It’s like a cup of hot masala tea you enjoy while reading a book or reflecting on you life while partially covered in a comforter and looking out at the rain and fresh greenery.” Praising the performance, the review read, “When it comes to acting, every one of the lead actors as well as the supporting cast have delivered. From Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta to Konkona Sensharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aditya Roy Kaour, Sara Ali Khan and Saswata Chatterjee, none have disappointed.”

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu, with music composed by Pritam.
