Actor Arjun Bijlani and his family are going through a deeply painful time following the sudden demise of his father-in-law, Rakesh Chandra Swami. The 73-year-old passed away after suffering a stroke, leaving the family in shock and grief. What was meant to be a joyful New Year holiday quickly turned into a heartbreaking moment for the actor and his loved ones.
Arjun Bijlani Mourns The Loss Of His Father-In-Law
According to reports, Arjun immediately cut short his New Year vacation in Dubai and returned to Mumbai after Rakesh Chandra Swami was admitted to the ICU on Monday. Sadly, despite medical efforts, he could not recover. The sudden nature of the incident has left the entire family struggling to come to terms with the loss.
A video that surfaced on social media from the funeral showed an emotional Arjun Bijlani consoling his young son. The actor was seen hugging him tightly, trying to comfort the child while holding back tears himself. In another moving moment, Arjun also turned pallbearer and carried his father-in-law’s body on his shoulders, standing strong for the family during the final rites.
A family member confirmed the news to HT City and shared details of the sudden tragedy. “He was fit and fine and was about to have dinner when he suddenly suffered a stroke. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was put on a ventilator. The entire family is in shock. Neha and Arjun had met the family just before flying to Dubai, so this has come as a complete shock,” the family member said.
The final rites of Rakesh Chandra Swami were performed on Thursday afternoon at the Oshiwara crematorium, with close family members in attendance. He is survived by his daughter, Neha Swami, who is married to Arjun Bijlani, and his son, Nishank Swami.
Friends, fans, and members of the television industry have been sending condolences and strength to the Bijlani family during this difficult time.
