Deepika Padukone is currently gearing up for the release of her much talked about next ‘Chhapaak’. The actress made a bold statement by visiting Jawaharlal Nehru University last night and expressing her solidarity with the students. Twitterati and B-town showered the actress with praises for showing guts and standing up for what is right.
Deepika Padukone attended the JNU protests at the Sabarmati Hostel on Tuesday evening. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap applauded her for standing up and also urged her fans to go watch ‘Chhapaak’ as an act of support. He wrote, “The female of the species is, and was, and will always be the strongest of the two #DeepikaPadukone . Chhapak first day all shows . Let’s all those who stand against the violence go to @bookmyshow and show them. Make our silent statement which will be the loudest .”

As producer today @deepikapadukone would’ve been standing in the preview theatres in Mumbai waiting to hear praise being showered on her maiden production. She instead chose to stand in solidarity with #JNUstudents knowing fully well the ramifications of her actions. #RESPECT
