Badshah on social media trolls: People don’t treat us as public figures, but as public properties
Recently, rapper Badshah appeared in Punjabi version of ‘Famously Filmfare’. It is the first season of the show and Badshah was the first guest. The show is streamed in an OTT platform. The host of the show is Surveen Chawla. In the show, the rapper spoke at length about his struggles in his singing career, Punjabi cinema and a lot more. He also spoke on social media trolls that have been meted out to celebrities.
When Surveen asked about the trolls, the ‘Mercy’ singer said, “In this industry, I realized that you can listen to them to a limit. You can let them affect you, but after a certain point of time, I think it’s only your work. That’s what you need to focus on. And I think it’s the celebrity who always gets affected. Because according to people, every celebrity is rich, every celebrity is living a comfortable life. They don’t have a right to talk back. They are not public figures, they are public properties. That’s how they treat them, which is a bit sad.”
Badshah is a terrific rapper and his rap songs like ‘Let’s Nacho’, ‘Dj Waley Babu’, ‘Heartless’, and ‘Tareefan’ are chartbusters. He will be trying his acting skills in an untitled movie that has Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Sharma, Annu Kapoor, Nadira Babbar and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in significant roles. The movie is being directed by Shilpi Dasgupta and is reportedly hitting the theatres on August 2.
