In March, the Bombay High Court refused to lift the stay placed on the film, and is still sticking to the same decision. And now, as per a recent report, the Bombay HC has once more refused to lift the stay citing prima facie infringement. Read on to know more.
Bombay HC Refuses To Lift Stay On Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar
According to a recent Bar And Bench report, the Bombay HC has refused to grant relief to a film titled Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar. A division bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Makarand Karnik heard the appeal filed by the makers and confirmed the stay order passed by single-judge Justice RI Chagla in March. They also rejected the appeal filed by the film’s producers seeking to vacate the interim order.
Though the makers offered to change the title, the Court directed them to approach the single judge with the plea.
Senior Advocate Zal Andhyarujina and advocates Rashmin Khandekar, Parag Khandhar, Pranita Saboo, Anaheeta Verma, Pratyusha Dhodda and Shayan Bisney instructed by DSK Legal appeared for Karan Johar. Advocate Ashok Saraogi with advocates Anand Mishra, Sushil Upadhyay, Amit Dubey and Siddharth Singh appeared for Sanjay Singh.
