Boney Kapoor has gone to the Madras High Court to stop three people from claiming ownership of a farmhouse in Chennai. This farmhouse once belonged to his late wife, the famous actress Sridevi. Boney Kapoor’s legal plea says that the three individuals, a woman and her two sons, are wrongly trying to take over the property.
Boney Kapoor Legal Dispute Over Sridevi’s Chennai Property
The farmhouse is on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai. Sridevi bought this land on April 19, 1988, from M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar. The land originally belonged to Mudaliar’s family, who divided it among themselves in 1960. Based on this family agreement, Sridevi legally bought the farmhouse.
The woman claiming the land says she is the second wife of one of Mudaliar’s sons and that she married him in 1975. Boney argues that this is not true because the man’s first wife was alive until 1999, so the second marriage would not be legally valid.
Boney also questioned the Tambaram Taluk Tahsildar, who gave a legal heirship certificate to these three people. He asked the court to cancel this certificate and stop any ownership transfer. The court has ordered the Tambaram Tahsildar to review the case and give a decision within four weeks.
This farmhouse is very special to Boney and his daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. It is a family retreat and holds emotional value since it was once owned by Sridevi, who was a legendary actor in Bollywood. Both daughters have also started their acting careers, following their mother’s path.
