Border 2: Sonam Bajwa Joins Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh And Ahan Shetty’s Actioner- Report

Director Anurag Singh is bringing Diljit Dosanjh and Sonam Bajwa for Border 2, with filming currently underway in Pune. Reports confirm that Sonam Bajwa has joined the cast for a pivotal role. She will begin shooting for the film by the end of June. The producers of this project will also revive the iconic ‘Sandese Aate Hai,’ featuring singers Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh.

Sources revealed to Pinkvilla that Sonam Bajwa portrays a strong-headed Punjabi girl in the movie. “Sonam Bajwa is paired alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2. Much like Border, her character has a strong emotional arc, and her dynamics with Diljit will stand out as one of the major highlights, alongside the war sequences and the Indo-Pak conflict,” shared a source.

The same source added that shooting with Diljit Dosanjh has begun in Pune. The rest of the cast will join within two weeks. “Border 2 will be shot from June until mid-August, with a combined shoot involving all the lead actors – Sunny, Varun, Diljit, Ahan, and Sonam – among others. The makers are also finalising one more top female actor to join the cast alongside Varun. And casting is currently in progress,” they explained.

About Border 2

Scheduled for a Republic Day 2026 release, Border 2 is being promoted as the biggest war film in Indian cinema. About 60 per cent of the shooting has already been completed. The remaining portions are expected to wrap up by August. Border 2 is backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The epic war film will be directed by Anurag Singh and is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026, coinciding with Republic Day 2026. The sequel promises to take audiences on a spectacular journey of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice.
