Kartik Aaryan’s film Captain India, first announced in 2021 with director Hansal Mehta, is now set to begin production this summer under the direction of Shimit Amin. The filmmakers are targeting a filming window between May and July. After no updates for the past five years, a new report suggests that the project is finally moving forward.
Kartik Aaryan’s Captain India To Begin Filming Soon
In 2021, Captain India was introduced with Kartik Aaryan attached as the lead and Hansal Mehta set to direct. However, progress stalled for the next five years, leaving industry insiders wondering about the film’s fate. Now, Mid-Day reported that the aviation drama is finally resuming production this summer. The first look of Captain India was unveiled in July 2021.
An insider shared, “The makers are eyeing a window between May and July for filming.” With Hansal Mehta no longer involved, Shimit Amin, known for Chak De! India (2007) has taken over as director. Recently, there were rumours that Amin had also exited the project. However, a source close to the production clarified, “The delays caused those rumours. The film is on track, and Shimit is directing it. Kartik is currently shooting for another T-Series film, and once that’s done, he’ll begin Captain India.”
Kartik Aaryan’s Projects
Kartik Aaryan was last seen in Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri (2026), directed by Sameer Vidwans. His upcoming projects include the action-thriller Naagzilla, scheduled for release in August 2026. He is also filming an untitled musical saga with director Anurag Basu and Sreeleela, expected in 2026, following the success of his last hit, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
