Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has led to the CBI filing a closure report in the alleged suicide case, officials announced on Saturday. Rajput was found deceased in his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020, at the age of 34.
CBI Files Closure Report In Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case
As per sources, the CBI has submitted its findings to a special court in Mumbai. It will now determine whether to accept the report or direct the agency to continue its investigation. Rajput was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai. The case was initially registered by the Bihar Police as an abetment of suicide based on a complaint lodged in Patna by his father, K K Singh.
In its final medico-legal assessment, forensic specialists from AIIMS ruled out the allegations of poisoning and strangling. These were made in connection with the case. The CBI has gathered statements from key individuals, including Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s rumoured girlfriend, and has also obtained the actor’s medical records. After the closure report’s submission, the Bandra magistrate court has scheduled the next hearing for the case on April 8. Once the closure report is allowed by the court, the case can be disposed of.
Rhea Chakraborty’s Arrest By NCB
Rajput’s father accused Chakraborty and her family of misappropriating his son’s finances in his complaint to the Bihar Police. He claimed that Chakraborty has publicly denied in various interviews. Following Sushant’s death, both Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). It was related to drug investigation but were later released on bail after a few months. The case was subsequently transferred to the CBI, which has been investigating the circumstances surrounding the actor’s death.
Following his passing, Sushant’s residence in Patna was converted into a memorial. It showcases his personal items such as his telescope, books, guitar, and other mementoes.

Sushant Singh Rajput made his acting debut in the film Kai Po Che. He starred in films like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath, Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, Raabta, and Chhichhore. His last film, Dil Bechara, was released posthumously.
