Bollywood is a soft target, don’t you get that feeling? The film industry, despite generating millions and millions of rupees for the government and country, invariably finds itself in chaos and trouble.

Now, as per the news agency ANI, the CBI has registered a preliminary inquiry against Anurag Kashyap films, other film companies and unnamed officials of National Film Development Corporation of India in an alleged financial irregularities matter.

The said complaint is based on a complaint by the Information and Broadcasting ministry, which is headed by Rajyavardhan Rathore. As per the report in The Print website, the CBI move comes months after the Narendra Modi  led BJP government sought a probe into the allegations. The report further states that Anurag Kashyap has denied any wrongdoing.

There are allegations against NFDC as well. The NFDC was constituted under the Information & Broadcasting (I&B) ministry in 1975, receives central funds and other grants to participate in film festivals and make publicity films for the government.

The latest row will no doubt raise suspicion about central government’s interference in dealings of art and cinema. Bollywood, as said earlier, has been a soft target and to end this controversy, there should be a fair and impartial probe.
