Laxman Utekar’s historical drama Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal, is off to a strong start at the box office, earning over ₹67 crore domestically in its first two days. The film is on track to reach the ₹100 crore milestone during its opening weekend. The film, Chhaava has a high demand fueling late-night and early-morning shows.

Due to the high demand for tickets, particularly in Maharashtra, exhibitors are adding late-night and early-morning showtimes. The film, a biopic of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has resonated strongly with audiences, especially in Maharashtra, given the historical significance and popularity of the subject matter.
Starting Sunday, theatres in Mumbai and Pune have introduced midnight screenings, extending the viewing window. Smaller centres have even scheduled shows as early as 6 am and as late as 1 am, as reported by exhibitors.
According to Bollywood Hungama, various locations in Mumbai have extended showtimes to 12:45 am, 1 am, 1:15 am, and even 1:30 am, although these times were not yet in effect. KoiMoi reported that Pune theatres opened 6 am shows due to occupancy hitting 95% in the city.
Impressive occupancy figures
The film experienced an average of 50% occupancy across all Saturday shows, which rose to 69% for night shows. The film’s night shows in Mumbai and Pune saw occupancy rates of 93% and 97%, respectively. The film has also performed surprisingly well in South India, with Chennai and Hyderabad recording 81% and 88% occupancy, respectively, for Saturday night shows.
