CONFIRMED! Rajkummar Rao Announces Sourav Ganguly Biopic; Says, “I Am Nervous, It’s A Huge…”

Cricket and Bollywood are two big passions in India. So, when they come together, fans get very excited. After hitting biopics on cricketers like MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev, fans have been waiting for a film on former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. Now, the wait seems to be over.

Rajkummar Rao Confirms He Will Play Sourav Ganguly

Rajkummar Rao confirmed that he will play Sourav Ganguly in the upcoming biopic. He said speaking to NDTV, “Now that Dada has already said it, let me also make it official — yes, I am playing him in his biopic. I am nervous… It’s a huge responsibility, but it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he added.

For some time, there were rumours about who would get the role. Big names like Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana were also considered. But Ganguly himself recently praised Rajkummar, giving a clear hint that he supported the choice.

Ganguly had spoken about the film’s progress to PTI and stated, “It’s going well. It will be released next December. Shooting starts in January. The pre-production, story writing, and scripting take a lot of time. Shooting doesn’t take that much time — it’s about three months — and then the post-production takes time,” the former cricketer said.

On the work front, Rajkummar is also busy promoting his next film Maalik, which will be released in theatres on July 11.
