Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has decided not to act in the Hindi remake of The Intern. Instead, she will be involved in the film only as a producer. The movie will still feature Amitabh Bachchan in a key role. Deepika was earlier expected to play the lead role, originally played by Anne Hathaway in the Hollywood version.
Deepika Padukone Steps Back From Acting In The Intern
Deepika has chosen to focus on producing and will no longer act in the film. According to a report by Midday, she is now working behind the scenes and helping with the film’s creative and planning process. A new actress will be cast for the role Deepika was supposed to play. A source said that Deepika wants to grow more as a creator and focus on telling meaningful, global stories. The Intern remake is the first of five projects she plans to work on in the coming year.
The original Intern was about a 70-year-old widower named Ben who joins a fashion startup as an intern and forms a bond with the founder, Jules. The Hindi version will follow a similar story, with Amitabh Bachchan playing the senior intern.
This is not the only film Deepika has left recently. She also exited the film Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. However, she has several exciting projects ahead. She will appear in director Atlee’s next film with Allu Arjun, King with Shah Rukh and Suhana Khan, and the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.
These upcoming films will mark her return to the screen after becoming a mother. Deepika and Ranveer Singh welcomed their daughter, Dua, in September last year. She was last seen in Fighter, Singham Again, and Kalki 2898 AD.
