suhana khan, shah rukh khan, deepika padukone,

The list of actors to whom Deepika Padukone has been an on-screen mother continues to grow; after Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan, it’s now Suhana Khan. The year was 2007, and Deepika Padukone was launched in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om opposite Shh Rukh Khan. And that’s what’s happening with King, set to be Suhana Khan’s first theatrical release. Also starring SRK, the film has gone through a change of hands, what with the film initially set to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh but now being helmed by Pathaan (2023) and Fighter (2024) fame Siddharth Anand.

Deepika Padukone Reunites With Shah Rukh Khan In King?

As per PeepingMoon, Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand are reuniting for their upcoming action film, King, and they have confirmed Deepika Padukone as the female lead opposite SRK. Produced by Marflix Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment, the movie will feature Deepika in an extended cameo role as the mother of Suhana Khan’s character and a former lover of Shah Rukh Khan’s character.

The film is described as a revenge action thriller, with Deepika’s character playing a crucial role in the plot. Despite not being a full-fledged lead role, both SRK and Siddharth Anand were keen on casting Deepika, and she accepted the offer. This will mark their third consecutive collaboration after Pathaan and Jawan and their sixth overall since Om Shanti Om.

‘King’ is reportedly inspired by the 2000 action thriller Bichhoo, which was an unofficial remake of the French film Léon: The Professional. Although it’s not a remake, the movie shares a similar premise, with SRK playing a seasoned assassin who seeks revenge alongside Suhana Khan’s character after a tragedy strikes her life.

The film has undergone significant script changes since Siddharth Anand took over as director, transforming it into a quintessential SRK film with high-octane action, romance, and thrilling sequences. The cast also includes Abhishek Bachchan as the villain and Abhay Verma in a pivotal role.

With Deepika on board, the project has gained even more star power, increasing audience anticipation for the SRK-Siddharth Anand collaboration. The pre-production is in full swing, with filming set to begin next month in Mumbai, targeting a late 2026 theatrical release.
