Dhurandhar 2 Production House NOT Blacklisted Instead BMC Sends Show Cause Notice

Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar 2 has encountered trouble for breaching safety regulations mandated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). During a recent shoot in Mumbai—part of a patchwork schedule—the cast and crew filmed on the terrace of an old building and used two generator vans without obtaining the necessary permissions. They also brought in gas cylinders, which further violated safety protocols. Recognising this as a significant security lapse, the authorities seized the equipment on site.

Dhurandhar 2 Production House NOT Blacklisted Instead BMC Sends Show Cause Notice

In response, the BMC has issued a show-cause notice addressed to director Aditya Dhar, producer Lokesh Dhar’s production company B62 Studios, and individuals Komal Pokhriyal and Nasir Khan. As of now, B62 Studios has not been blacklisted by the BMC. The authorities clarified that the notice is part of an ongoing investigation into the violations. And, no final action has been taken against the production house yet.

Bhushan Gagrani, Municipal Commissioner of the BMC, confirmed to Bombay Times that since the issue is being handled at the ward level, the civic body has sent a show-cause notice but has not blacklisted the studio. He emphasised that no action will be taken without allowing the producers to respond. Gagrani also expressed support for the thriving Mumbai entertainment industry. He stressed that safety remains a top priority and assured that the matter will be resolved shortly.

Violations By Dhurandhar 2 Makers

Sources close to the production revealed that the filmmakers had sought and obtained permission to shoot at various South Mumbai locations. And, they were aware of regulations regarding inflammable materials on set. Despite assurances to the BMC that appropriate precautions would be taken, the crew ultimately violated safety protocols, risking many lives. Another insider noted that even if the production house is later blacklisted, other entities could apply for permissions, allowing the shoot to continue with proper oversight.

Why Did BMC Issue The Show-Cause Notice?

Earlier this year, images from the set of Dhurandhar 2 in South Mumbai’s Ballard Estate went viral. It showed Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal filming on real locations. Subsequently, the BMC raised alarms after the crew shot at a building terrace and used two generator vans without approval. The civic body sent a formal letter to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Zone 1, the A ward office, demanding a penalty of Rs 1 lakh. The BMC also forfeited the production’s security deposit of Rs 25,000. It was reported that gas cylinders were used on set for cooking. It is against regulations, and the Mumbai police had to intervene when the team was caught burning torches in a high-security zone. Recognising the severity of the breach, authorities seized equipment from the location and flagged it as a serious security lapse.
