Dhurandhar The Revenge: 'Bade Sahab' Danish Iqbal Reveals He Wasn't Aware About His Role In Ranveer Singh's Spy Action Thriller

Danish Iqbal Shares He Was Kept In The Dark About His Role As Bade Sahab In Dhurandhar 2

The secret is finally out! Fans eager to know who plays Bade Sahab in Dhurandhar 2 now have their answer. Danish Iqbal, who gained recognition as Dilshad in Maharani 2, takes on the pivotal role of Bade Sahab, also known as Dawood Ibrahim, in Aditya Dhar’s Ranveer Singh-starrer.

In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Danish opened up about his experience portraying the enigmatic character. Surprisingly, he revealed that until a few months ago, he wasn’t aware that he was playing Bade Sahab. The actor shared, “Let me tell you, this Bade Sahab discussion was never there. I mean, till about a couple of months ago, I was also not aware that I was playing Bade Sahab. I was in doubt. So, he (Aditya) was so secretive and kept so many things to himself.”

The actor explained that he only received information essential to his role when shooting began. Highlighting the intrigue and secrecy surrounding his pivotal role in the spy thriller, he added, “But yes, I was playing Dawood, I was pretty much aware of it. But Dawood is Bade Sahab, even I was not 100% confident. Everyone was addressing me as Dawood bhai or Sahab. About my character, no one said anything to me. So, it’s me all the time talking in my scenes.”

The actor also reflected on portraying an ageing character in Dhurandhar The Revenge. Danish Iqbal noted that this depiction of Dawood Ibrahim’s later years had never been shown on the big screen before Aditya Dhar’s film. He explained, “I’ve seen incredible performances by other actors portraying characters of a certain age, and as an actor, I was fascinated by how to bring this to life on screen. I’ve done extensive theatre work, but in cinema, this is my first role of such scale and intensity.”

Who Is Danish Iqbal?

The character of Bade Sahab, widely associated with Dawood Ibrahim, is portrayed by Danish Iqbal, a theatre artist and screen performer. He gained prominence for his role as Dilshad Mirza in Maharani Season 2 and is an alumnus of the National School of Drama, as well as CSSD London, as noted in his Instagram bio. Most recently, he appeared in the Sankalp, headlined by Nana Patekar and directed by Prakash Jha.

In Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the character is depicted as residing in the ‘White House’ in Karachi. Once a feared figure, he is now shown as physically frail and bedridden due to deteriorating health, yet continues to wield influence within the ranks of Pakistan’s ISI.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge will proceed with its theatrical release on March 19, under the court’s protection. Directed by Aditya Dhar, it is a sequel to the 2025 blockbuster Dhurandhar.
