Screenings of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 faced disruptions in Montreal after miscreants slashed cinema screens during the show. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge became one of the biggest releases of the year. Following its success in December, the film’s sequel was among the most highly anticipated projects. However, in Montreal, Canada, Dhurandhar 2 screenings were interrupted after reports of sabotage at two cinema halls.

Viral videos on social media captured the chaos. It showed miscreants slashing the theatre screens mid-show, causing significant tears across the displays. Some clips included footage of intermission announcements and a police officer present inside the auditorium, indicating police intervention.

The exact motive behind the act of sabotage remains unclear, and no official statement has been issued yet. Incidents of violence and disruptions involving Indian films in Canada are not unprecedented. In October 2025, a theatre in Ontario halted screenings of Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 and They Call Him OG following separate incidents of arson and gunfire.

The film was officially released in theatres globally on March 19, with select preview screenings held on the evening of March 18. The film made an explosive debut, crossing Rs 100 crore on its opening day. Despite challenges like show delays and cancellations, the film’s momentum remained unaffected. According to trade sources, the Aditya Dhar-directed movie earned Rs 102.55 crore on day one, with the Hindi version accounting for Rs 99.10 crore of that total.
