Don 3: After Ranveer Singh’s Exit, Shah Rukh Khan To Make Comeback As Notorious Criminal? Here’s What We Know

Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 has been making the headlines ever since it was announced last year. While the initial casting suggested Ranveer Singh would take take the baton from Shah Rukh Khan and step in as the titular character, the actor exited the project post the massive success of Dhurandhar. While report continue to circulate about who is likely to headline the film, a new news article reveals SRK may make a comeback.

Shah Rukh Khan Play Titular Character In Don 3 After Ranveer Singh’s Exit?

As per a recent TellyChakkar report, Shah Rukh Khan is ready to reprise his role in the film only if the makers get ‘Jawan’ director Atlee on board. As per the report, the actor – who played the notorious character in Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006) and Don 2: The King Is Back (2011), has asked the makers to involve the ‘Theri’ filmmaker to amp up the movie’s scale and excitement.

According to the article, this is currently only a verbal interaction and nothing has been put on paper as yet. It will be interesting to see how Farhan Akhtar – director of both the SRK-starrer, reacts to this request/demands.

About The Franchise & Don 3

The Don franchise began in 1978 when Amitabh Bachchan played the Indian underworld boss. Directed by Chandra Barot, the action thriller saw Bachchan in dual roles, alongside Zeenat Aman, Pran, Iftekhar, Om Shivpuri and Satyen Kappu. The film emerged as the third highest-grossing Indian film that year and has since achieved cult status.

In 2006, a remake series began with Shah Rukh Khan as the titular character. Created by Javed Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar, the films – Don: The Chase Begins Again and Don 2: The King Is Back, the film’s also starred Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, and Om Puri in pivotal roles. Both films – directed by Farhan, make it to the Top 5 highest grossing Hindi film list of their respective years.

Talking about Don 3, the project was announced in 2023 with filming initially expected to begin in early 2025. However, since then, the film has faced several issues with regards to it casting. While Ranveer Singh has now walked out of the film, earlier Kiara Advani bid adieu to the project. Reports suggest Kriti Sanon will step into her shoes. Vikrant Massey, too, has been in talks with the makers to play the antagonist in the upcoming actioner.
