Dostana 2: Pratibha Ranta Replaces Janhvi Kapoor In Vikrant Massey, Lakshya Starrer- Report

Pratibha Ranta, who gained fame with Laapataa Ladies, is reportedly in talks with the makers of Lakshya and Vikrant Massey’s Dostana 2. Earlier, Janhvi Kapoor was cast as the female lead. Dostana 2 is back on track after being stalled. After shooting for 20 days, producer Karan Johar announced that the romantic comedy, directed by Collin DCunha, was put on hold. Kartik Aaryan, who was starring alongside Lakshya and Janhvi Kapoor, unexpectedly exited the project, sparking widespread speculation.

Pratibha Ranta To Replace Janhvi Kapoor In Dostana 2

Now, four years later, Dostana 2 will be revived with a new cast. Lakshya, initially set to debut in Bollywood through this Dharma Productions project, has since moved on and starred in Kill under the same banner. While Lakshya remains part of Dostana 2, Vikrant Massey has confirmed his involvement. According to Times Now reports, Pratibha Ranta has been approached to play the female lead. Janhvi also left the project alongside Kartik and may not return due to prior commitments. Pratibha rose to prominence with her debut in Laapataa Ladies.

Janhvi And Kartik Shot Dostana 2 Before COVID

Janhvi, who shot for a few days with Kartik on Dostana 2, expressed her confusion about the project being shelved. In a previous interview with The Lallantop, she said, “I don’t know either. We shot for about 30 to 35 days, and I thought the shoot was going very well. I don’t understand why the film was put on hold. We started shooting long before COVID, and then the pandemic caused a delay of over a year and a half. When it was time to restart, I don’t know what happened.”

When asked about rumours of a feud between Karan and Kartik, Janhvi replied, “I don’t think there was a feud. I believe both of them value their work a lot. You should ask them directly about what happened between them, because I don’t know the details.”

Prior to Laapataa Ladies, Pratibha made her acting debut with Qurbaan Hua on Zee TV, alongside Karan Jotwani. She also appeared in the web series Aadha Ishq with Darsheel Safary and Gaurav Arora. Following her breakout role, she signed up for the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series The Revolutionaries, starring Rohit Saraf, Bhuvan Bam, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Jason Shah.
