DYK, Jaideep Ahlawat Rejected Vibhishan’s Role In Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Ramayana? Here’s Why

As per reports, Jaideep Ahlawat was recently offered the role of Vibhishan in Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana but couldn't do due to this reason.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana is one of the most anticipated projects of 2026. While the film has gone on floors and even Ranbir has spoken about it, the details about other cast members continue to remain under wraps. As per latest updates, Jaideep Ahlawat too was approached for Ramayana but he had to let go off the project for this reason.

Jaideep Ahlawat Rejects Ramayana For This Reason

According to a report by ETimes, Jaideep was approached to play the role of Vibhishana, Ravana’s righteous brother, in Ramayana. While he was reportedly keen to be a part of the project, he had to let go of the opportunity. The reason? Prior work commitments and scheduling conflicts. Notably, there were rumours that Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi was also offered the role. However, there is no official confirmation yet on who has been finalised to play the character.

About Ramayana

Talking about the film, Ranbir will be seen as Lord Ram, whereas Sai Pallavi will essay Mata Sita. While some reports also stated that the KGF star Yash will play Ravan in the film. Lara Dutta will essay the role of Kaikeyi, Sunny Deol that of Hanuman and Sheeba Chaddha will be seen as Manthara. A leaked picture from the set of the film featuring Ranbir and Sai in costumes went viral on social media earlier this year. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana will release in two parts with first one releasing in 2026 followed by 2^nd one in 2027.
