Huma Qureshi reacts to MeToo allegations on Maharani creator Subhash Kapoor

Huma Qureshi is undoubtedly one of the path-breaking actresses. She has been winning praises for her portrayal of Rani Bharti in Maharani. In a candid chat with Bollywood Bubble, Huma Qureshi opened up on her character being compared to Rabri Devi, making her Hollywood debut, patriarchy, Dave Bautista, reception to Army of the Dead, being associated with a film produced by Subhash Kapoor, who was accused during the MeToo movement.

“No, it is not at all similar. I know people have been making comparisons between the two characters but honestly, except for that she was also a female Chief Minister, there is absolutely no similarity between Rabri Devi and Rani Bharti,” Huma Qureshi said. She also added that she is very happy to be in a space where she can do a lot and experiment across genres and boundaries.

Meanwhile, Huma also revealed how she was questioned for her choice to become an actress and had to fight patriarchy in her own way to find her way into the industry. Huma also shared that Maharani came to her at a time when they were all contemplating the future amid the pandemic. Maharani shows Huma plays a Chief Minister in Bihar. She has definitely played her part to finesse and was also seen in Netflix’s Army of the Dead. Many of Huma’s fans were upset with her small stint in the film.

Addressing that, Huma Qureshi said that she doesn’t really mind the screen time in a movie as long as her character makes an impact.
