Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar And Other Pakistani Celebs' Instagram Account Banned In India After Pahalgam Terror Attack

Following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, several Pakistani celebrities’ Instagram accounts have been restricted in India. As of April 30, Indian users are no longer able to view the profiles of popular Pakistani actresses Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar.

Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar’s account BANNED

Hania Aamir’s account was reportedly one of the first to be blocked. Many users on X (formerly Twitter) shared screenshots showing that access to these accounts had been limited.

After the restriction, Hania Aamir posted a story on Instagram requesting the Indian Prime Minister not to punish innocent people over the incident.

Other Pakistani celebrities whose Instagram profiles have also been restricted in India include Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, and Sajal Aly. However, the accounts of actors like Fawad Khan and Wahaj Ali are still accessible to Indian users.

This social media restriction appears to be part of a broader response by Indian authorities to the Pahalgam attack. Just days before, the Indian government also banned 16 Pakistan-based YouTube channels.

In another development, the Indian release of Fawad Khan’s comeback film Abir Gulaal has been cancelled. Interestingly, the film was also reportedly banned in Pakistan. The movie featured Vaani Kapoor alongside Fawad Khan and was expected to mark his return to Indian cinema.

These restrictions and bans reflect the growing tension between the two countries and how entertainment and digital platforms are also being affected in the process.
