Ranveer Gulshan

Gulshan Devaiah is an actor par excellence and for his upcoming film he has decided to emulate Ranveer Singh. Yes, the actor in a move quite similar to Ranveer Singh, had turned into a recluse. Ranveer, to enact his role of Peshwa Bajirao, had apparently locked himself up for three weeks, and practised the way Bajirao walks, sits, talks, his eye movements, his gestures etc.

Similarly Gulshan Devaiah, who is playing the role of an investigative journalist in ‘Cabaret’ opposite Richa Chadha, decided to take to alcohol to immerse deeper into his role and also listen to soulful Ghazals. He will depict a depressed loner in the film.

In the course of the shoot he used to distance himself from people on the sets. He said, “I play a depressed, alcoholic, investigative journalist in ‘Cabaret’ and so I spent an entire evening getting totally wasted by bar hopping with Kaustav, the director of the film. He shared with me, stories from his life that were relevant to the character (Gaurav Grewal) I was playing. He wrote the part based upon his own life, so it’s kind of autobiographical. I would also listen from time to time to a playlist of ghazals by Jagjit Singh, that were very beautiful but depressing. It certainly helped me with my preparation for ‘Cabaret’.”

‘Cabaret’ starring Richa Chaddha, Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles will be releasing on May 6.
