The Roshan family is one of the most affluent families of Bollywood industry. While Hrithik Roshan, his dad Rakesh Roshan and uncle Rajesh Roshan have carved a niche for themselves, the scrutiny around their families is constant. Rakesh Roshan’s daughter Sunaina Roshan was once in limelight when she battled emotional low. Sunaina Roshan, sister of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, recently opened up about her battle with alcoholism and her experience in rehab calling it the worst phase of her life.
Sunaina Roshan on alcoholism and time in rehab
Talking about her alcohol addiction, she told Siddharth Kanna, “It was tough. Alcoholism is when you don’t have control over your drinking. I was going through a very difficult time. I was emotionally vulnerable, and to numb my emotions, I started drinking. I think it was the worst phase of my life. I had fallen off beds and injured myself. It’s a very vicious cycle to be in. It’s a vicious cycle because you get a high, your brain is numb, and the next day it’s like you get more anxiety, more panic attacks, dehydration, you have no energy to do anything, so you don’t want to get back into a good state, you start drinking again.”
“For a couple of months, I wasn’t given any money, my credit cards were taken away, and it was a very unpleasant situation for me to be in,” she shared.
Sunaina further admitted she wanted to get rid of that phase and admitted herself to a rehab. Talking about her days there, she shared, “It’s a 28-day course, and it’s not like a normal rehab. Basically, any kind of addiction is treated there. It was a 28-day program where 5-6 counselors were grilling you. It was worse than a normal rehab. I don’t know what a normal rehab is like, but this was in one room, for 89 hours. They were just grilling you”.
Sunaina Roshan has previously worked as a producer on films like Krazzy 4 and Kites.
