Kajol, Ayan Mukerji’s Uncle And Filmmaker Rono Mukherjee Passes Away At 83; Celebs Attend Last Rites

Veteran filmmaker Rono Mukherjee passed away on May 28 at the age of 83. Rono was the father of actress Sharbani Mukherjee and the uncle of famous Bollywood stars Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Ayan Mukerji, and Tanishaa Mukerji. Sharbani and her cousins were seen at his funeral on Wednesday evening.

Bollywood Celebs Attend Rono Mukherjee’s Funeral

On Wednesday, after his passing, many family members and friends came to pay their last respects. Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker was also seen at the funeral. He is close to the Mukherjee family and is married to Sunita Gowariker, daughter of Deb Mukherjee, who makes Ayan Mukerji his brother-in-law.

Rono was the eldest of the Mukherjee brothers, who are known for organizing the well-loved North Bombay Durga Puja festival. He was often seen celebrating the event with his family. He was best known for directing films like Haiwan and Tu Hi Meri Zindagi.

Rono Mukherjee also played a key role in organizing the famous North Bombay Sarvajanik Durga Puja. This event is one of Mumbai’s biggest Durga Puja celebrations and is often attended by Bollywood celebrities.

This sad news comes just two months after the death of Deb Mukherjee, Ayan’s father, who passed away on March 14 this year.
