Kalki 2: Deepika Padukone’s Role As Sumati NOT Being Scraped; Sai Pallavi To Lead Prabhas Starrer- Report

Months after Deepika Padukone was ousted from Kalki 2, new reports indicate that her character will not be removed from the project; instead, actress Sai Pallavi has been roped in to play Deepika’s role. In September 2025, the film’s producers officially announced Deepika’s exit via their X (formerly Twitter) handle, citing the actress’s demands as a key reason.

Deepika Padukone’s Role In Kalki 2 Will Be Led By Sai Pallavi

“It is Sai (replacing Deepika). There was never any question of scrapping the role after Deepika’s exit,” a member from the Kalki 2 team confirmed to Bollywood Hungama. “Deepika wanted almost 35 per cent more for the sequel than what she received for the first film. It became difficult to align on terms. She eventually exited, and now Sai Pallavi has stepped in,” the insider added.

Why Was Deepika Padukone Ousted?

The decision to part ways reportedly stemmed from disagreements over her remuneration and work schedule. Reports suggest Deepika demanded a 25 per cent increase in her fees along with a 7-hour work shift. Negotiations reportedly failed, as the actress remained firm on her demands, leading the makers to choose a different route for the sequel.

No Official Statement Released

Despite all the speculation, there is no official confirmation has been issued by the Kalki 2 team that Sai Pallavi is stepping in for Deepika Padukone. As of now, the discussions circulating online are based on media reports.
