Recently an open letter surfaced from an unverified Twitter account ‘NotKangana’ and within minutes, went viral on social media platforms. The letter called out filmmaker Karan Johar for the recent party that he hosted which saw the presence of some of the biggest stars of the industry. While a politician has accused the celebs of using drugs at the party, the uproar is more on the culture that it is unfurling.

From an anonymous source, the letter goes on to point out some pertinent questions- 1)Why the video was shot in the first place which also, boasts of him flaunting his closeness with the Bollywood stars after a series of flops. More so, giving a broader perspective, the surfaced letter says how India has changed and that people are no longer worshipping stars and celebrities unquestioningly where they hold power and responsibilities.

The most important context that arises with this letter with every thought that has been touched from the idea of love, adulterated notions of privilege and even Hardik Pandya is- has Karan Johar lost his plot and marketing power that he was once known for, in the middle of a world in thin air that he aims to create?

The letter also points out that he had stirred up a controversy and almost ended the career of Hardik Pandya and also that the filmmaker fails to understand the youth and their narratives while constantly building on a utopia that is away from reality. The open letter raises several questions to ponder upon.
