Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta is mourning the loss of her father, Wing Commander L.K. Dutta (Retd), who passed away in Mumbai on May 31 at the age of 84. Describing him as a man of discipline, strength, and deep affection, she emphasised that he left behind not just memories but a lasting legacy that shaped her very identity.
Lara Dutta Pays Heartfelt Tribute To Father Retd Wing Commander LK Dutta
Sharing an emotional tribute on social media, Lara paid heartfelt homage to her father’s life and the remarkable courage he displayed in facing his final days.“My wonderful, brave, fighter of a father, went quietly into the good night,” she wrote. Over recent months, he had been battling an illness that tested him profoundly, yet he remained resilient until the very end.
Lara described her father as someone who endured pain with the grace of a seasoned soldier. “He bore pain with the stoicism of a battle-worn soldier and displayed a courage and willingness to beat the odds, that sometimes defied all logic,” she shared.
However, Lara’s tribute went beyond his final fight. She opened a treasure trove of childhood memories, illustrating a father who was both gentle and firm—a guide and a playmate. “My dad hoisting a 3-year-old me up on his shoulders to look at the stars… the lap I sat on while I air-played an imaginary piano to the sound of his favourite Richard Clayderman tape…” she reminisced.
Lara also credited her father with instilling core values that have guided her life, reasoning, confidence to stand tall, and a sense of humour, even at one’s own expense. “I learnt to be brave, I learnt to be fearless, I learnt to stand up for myself and for others,” she expressed. She concluded her tribute with a poignant line that captures both grief and an everlasting bond: “I carry your heart, Dad… I carry it in my heart.”
Industry Friends React
Lara’s heartfelt note resonated deeply within her industry circle. Dia Mirza commented, “The BEST Man. Will always carry him in my heart.” Celina Jaitley shared, “I have so many wonderful memories of dear, darling Uncle Handsome with his glorious moustache… Dad and Uncle sipping their whiskies in the RSAOI Bangalore, such cherished images that bring warmth and comfort. Here’s to an amazing father and to a valiant soldier. May he rest in peace among the bravest of the brave. My love to you, Biyars, and the whole family. OM SHANTI.” Soha Ali Khan expressed her sentiments with a simple, heartfelt, “So much love.” Lisa Ray offered her condolences, stating, “Deepest condolences, Lara.”
