Lata Mangeshkar Passes Away

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is no more between us, leaving everyone in the void. Lata ji passed away on February 6 in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 92. The singer was earlier admitted to the hospital as she was tested positive for COVID-19. However, she was kept in ICU and on ventilator support when her condition deteriorated. Now, the doctor revealed that she died due to multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation.

Sharing an update on the same, ANI shared the Doctor’s statement who was treating the singer. It read, “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12 am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post #COVID19: Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital

Reportedly, the mortal remains of Lata Mangeshkar will be taken to her Prabhu Kunj residence on Pedder Road. The last darshan will be observed at 12:30 PM. The funeral ceremony will be held at Shivaji Park crematorium around 4 pm.

After Lata Mangeshkar passes away, even Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi offered condolence to her and her family as he wrote, “I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people.

Lata Mangeshkar who was crowned as the Nightingale of India was one of the legendary singers. She was honoured with Padma Bhushan (1969) Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1989) Maharashtra Bhushan (1997) Padma Vibhushan (1999) Bharat Ratna (2001) Legion of Honour and many more.
