Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War is set to resume filming only in the latter half of 2026, with stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal currently occupied with ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahavatar’. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt has already completed her portions. Known for his relentless pursuit of perfection, Bhansali’s meticulous approach means that the project’s completion is taking longer than initially planned.
Love And War Delayed Due To Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal’s Schedules
Since its announcement in January 2024, ‘Love & War’ has generated buzz not only because of its star-studded cast but also due to ongoing delays. Originally scheduled for a March release this year, the film remains unfinished, with only about 10% of shooting left. However, tight schedules and conflicting commitments are causing further delays. A source told Mid-Day, “Ranbir has Ramayana: Part Two, and Vicky is busy with Mahavatar. Nitesh Tiwari wants to finish the second part of Ramayana before starting post-production since from July onward, everyone will be focused on promoting Ramayana: Part One.”
Vicky Kaushal, who was expected to bulk up for Mahavatar but was tied up with ‘Love & War’ throughout 2025, has now begun final preparations. As a result, shooting for ‘Love & War’ will only pick up again in late 2026.
The only major remaining part is the climax. Despite recent health concerns, Bhansali remains committed to meeting the January 2027 deadline. “He’s been working tirelessly over the past two years. The team is adjusting timelines, and post-production is running concurrently to save time. Sanjay is confident the film will release on schedule and exactly as he envisioned,” an insider shares.
