Luv Ranjan CONFIRMS Sourav Ganguly's Biopic

In a recent interview, Luv Ranjan discussed his upcoming projects and shared an update on the Sourav Ganguly biopic, which is set to go on floors soon. The film will focus on Ganguly’s illustrious cricket career and his tenure as captain of the Indian cricket team. The director is renowned for his quirky romantic comedies, has skillfully diversified his filmography by exploring different genres and subjects.

Luv Ranjan CONFIRMS Sourav Ganguly Biopic Shooting

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ranjan revealed that the team is preparing to begin shooting the Sourav Ganguly biopic in March 2026. While he confirmed the early start date, he chose not to divulge further details about the project.

“We’ve just wrapped up an action film with Ajay Devgn, which is scheduled to release later this year. We’ve already announced it. The Sourav Ganguly biopic is on our slate, and we’ll be starting it in March,” he stated.

Who Will Play Saurav Ganguly?

According to previous reports cited by Moneycontrol, the film, centered on Ganguly’s significant cricket career and his captaincy of the Indian team, is expected to begin filming in Kolkata. Rajkummar Rao is reportedly being considered for the lead role. To deliver an authentic portrayal of the cricket legend, Rao is reportedly undergoing extensive preparation, including studying left-handed batting techniques.

Currently, Luv Ranjan is focused on his upcoming project, Vadh 2. Scheduled to release on February 6, 2026, the highly anticipated crime thriller stars Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta. Directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under Luv Films, Vadh 2 aims to maintain the intense and authentic storytelling that made the first installment a success.
