Mayasabha: Jaaved Jaaferi REVEALS Why He Said ‘Yes’ To Tumbbad Director Rahi Anil Barve’s Psychological Thriller

Veteran actor Jaaved Jaaferi continues to surprise audiences with his choice of unconventional and layered projects. Explaining how he first encountered the script and how the project evolved over time, Jaaved said, “Wo jab padhi thi maine, inception se leke it took a while for it to materialise into a film, tab Tumbbad release nahi hui thi, fir jab maine padhi script aur Manjha (2008) dekhi, then I realised there is a vision, there is an amazing script, and the director has this totally, he’s possessed when he narrates that script, he’s there.”

Further adding, “So woh joh obsession maine dekha hai inme aur baad mein Tumbbad lagi toh I had no doubts. Manjha dekhi thi so I was convinced that this is a man who has a certain vision, and ye film ek alag film ban sakti thi with A-grade actors with a fantastic production, but he didn’t want that, so yeah.”

His words highlighted not only his faith in the script but also his admiration for Rahi’s obsessive commitment to storytelling and originality. Jaaved clearly admired how the director chose vision over scale, focusing on crafting something distinctive rather than chasing conventional commercial templates.

Interestingly, Jaaved revealed that his first meeting with Rahi Anil Barve happened in an unexpected place, the men’s washroom, a detail that drew laughter from the audience and added charm to their collaboration story.
