Mithun Chakraborty has weighed in on the ongoing debate around Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, firmly rejecting claims that the film promotes propaganda while backing its theatrical success. Scroll down to read more.
Mithun Chakraborty Supports Dhurandhar 2 Amid Propaganda Claims
Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty has dismissed allegations that Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar: The Revenge is a propaganda film. Speaking to IANS, the veteran actor drew a comparison with his own film, The Bengal Files, recalling that it faced restrictions and was not allowed to release in certain parts of the country.
The actor said, “You did not allow Bengal Files to be released here (West Bengal). What bigger issue will you talk about than this? Yet, you are calling Dhurandhar 2 propaganda. Then why didn’t you stop Dhurandhar 2 as well? It was released, and now you are calling it propaganda. But you didn’t even watch a single reel of Bengal Files. From the very beginning, you opposed it and did not allow the film to be released in Bengal. What could be more unfortunate than this?“
Hirav Mehta Responds To Propaganda Allegations
Earlier, Hirav Mehta, who portrays a Baloch gang member in Dhurandhar 2, also addressed the criticism surrounding the film. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor spoke about the criticism the film is receiving. Hirav said, “I am getting around 95% love from the audience, so the remaining 5%—a few trolls, a few negative comments, haters—they’re always going to be there. Same with Dhurandhar, despite its huge success, a little backlash or hate is nothing compared to the love and success it’s getting.“
Anupam Kher Also Reacts To Propaganda Claim
Meanwhile, Anupam Kher, speaking at the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026, criticised those labelling films as propaganda, emphasising the audience’s discernment. According to ANI, he said, “I think we should ignore people who are calling cinema propaganda. We are putting too much energy into them. They are redundant and irrelevant. Let’s celebrate the success of The Kashmir Files and Dhurandhar. People are not idiots. They are not going to attend a 12 o’clock show that is housefull unless they genuinely like the film. People go to watch films because they enjoy them. I think we should say rest in peace to those who are calling it propaganda.”
