Best known for playing the manipulative and often controversial Arturo Román in the globally celebrated series Money Heist. Spanish actor Enrique Arce has found an unexpectedly massive fan base in India. Despite his character being one of the most disliked in the show. Indian audiences have embraced him with surprising warmth. Something the actor himself admits he never anticipated. Currently in India for his first-ever visit, Arce made a special appearance at the inaugural International Film Festival Delhi, where his reception only reinforced the show’s enduring popularity across borders.

Money Heist Fame Enrique Arce Wants To Watch Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan’s Films

During his visit, Arce spoke to Hindustan Times about the overwhelming love he has received in India, his experience exploring the country, and his growing curiosity about Indian cinema.

Enrique continues to be surprised by the love he receives from Indians for his character Arturo in the global hit Money Heist. “I am amazed, I was 45 when I shot for that show, I am 53 today. I didn’t expect that my show would travel to such distant places,” says the Spanish actor, who was invited as a special guest at the just-concluded 1st International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD).

This marks his first trip to India, and the experience has already left a strong impression. When asked whether he watches content from this part of the world, he confesses, “I have watched a little… It’s such a big country. You all create content for your own people; there’s enough of a film industry for you. I am now going to make sure that I watch not only Bollywood, but all languages, even independent films from India. I know there are industries like the south here, I am more curious. We don’t necessarily get Indian movies there on TV.”

Enrique Arce Reveals, “I’m Most Intrigued By Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”

In fact, he already has a watchlist ready. He said, “There is one film I am most intrigued by: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Many of the things they showed in that film, in fact, happen in the region I come from, like La Tomatina! You don’t know how much it impacted tourism, so many Indians came to Spain. That’s money for Spain, and culture for you guys, it’s a win-win situation. Then there are a few names, whose films I want to see: Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor and Aamir Khan.”

His time at IFFD turned out to be just as memorable as his fan interactions. He told Hindustan Times, “They called me on stage and made me dance. I was not prepared, and they played Bella Ciao! I would want to come back to India again. If it is with work, amazing! Whatever I get offered here, I would say yes without thinking twice. I visited the Yash Raj Films Studio in Mumbai, too.”

As his first India trip comes to an end, Arce leaves with more than just memories; he carries a newfound appreciation for the country’s cinema, culture, and audiences. If his enthusiasm is anything to go by, this may just be the beginning of a deeper connection between the Money Heist star and India, with fans already hoping to see him return, perhaps next time, on screen.
