Mumtaz Reveals She Wasn't Permitted To Meet Dharmendra At Hospital

Veteran actress Mumtaz recently shared that her last meeting with Dharmendra took place in 2021 at his residence. She also revealed her disappointment over not being able to visit him during his hospitalisation. Mumtaz explained that Dharmendra had been put on a ventilator, and no visitors were allowed at that time.

Mumtaz Recalls Not Being Able To Meet Dharmendra When Hospitalised

In an interview with ETimes, Mumtaz recounted, “I went to see him at the hospital, but the staff told me he was on the ventilator and no one was permitted to meet him. I sat there for about 30 minutes, hoping I might still get to see him… but I couldn’t. I left without meeting him.”

Expressing her feelings about Hema Malini, Mumtaz added, “I feel sorry for his family and for Hema ji. She was always devoted to him. She must be feeling this loss very deeply. She was truly in love with him.”

Dharmendra-Mumtaz’s Projects

Dharmendra and Mumtaz shared the screen in several memorable films during the 1960s and 1970s, including Kaajal (1965), the acclaimed drama Aadmi Aur Insaan (1969), and the romantic thriller Mere Humdam Mere Dost (1968). They reunited for Jheel Ke Us Paar and the popular film Loafer in 1973, which became some of their most celebrated collaborations.

Dharmendra’s Death

Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 on November 24, just days before his 90th birthday on December 8. Earlier this month, he was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and was recovering at home. His cremation took place in Mumbai on Monday, attended by family members and many industry colleagues. Notably, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Salim Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan were seen arriving at the crematorium to pay their last respects.
